BIOGRAPHY

Brian N. Hewlett currently serves as Adjunct Faculty for the Pima Community College Downtown, West, and Northwest Campuses, where he holds certifications in Sociology and Psychology, and as Faculty for The University of Phoenix Hohokam Campus, where he teaches Sociology and Communications.

He holds a Doctoral Degree with concentration in Social Psychology and Race and Ethnic Relations and two Masters Degrees. He first received a Master’s Degree by concentrating on Counseling (Psychology) and administrating student populations in Higher Education and he received his second Master’s Degree by concentrating on the use of internet technology by race based movements. Prior to these higher degrees he completed a Bachelor’s Degree by pursuing a concentration of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

While earning his degrees, he has taught courses at eight different institutions of higher learning in the U.S. and one in Europe, he has directly managed two university auxiliary non-profit programs, he has directly managed two university residential facilities, he has served as an assistant manager for two university-wide student affairs programs and one athletic promotions program, and as an advisor to students in both the academic and personal capacity.

Dr. Hewlett has been characterized by his colleagues and former students as a results-oriented, high-energy, hands-on professional, with a successful record of accomplishments in research, teaching, program development, university administration, and more, which has afforded him strong leadership, excellent communication, supervisory and other skills of competence. He has been noted as a strong team player who gives attention to details, is respectful to compliance and understands the need for thorough administration coupled with empowerment of personnel. He has also been told by many that he is a visionary with a sense of a bigger picture.

His experiences have come from positions at numerous institutions throughout the U.S. and in Germany, which spans a period of working in some capacity with research, evaluation, assessment, and program development for over 15 years.

As a graduate student at The University of Arizona, he was named both a WICHE Pre-Doctoral Fellowship and a Marshall Dissertation Fellowship, managing to garner funding from these organizations to fund his education and research.
