As a non-profit foundation, the primary mission of The Foundation of L.I.F.E. is to serve as a resource for individuals and communities working toward global prosperity and social change that cultivates through economic, political and environmental protection, freedom, and justice the elimination of limitations that inhibit or impede the ideas and the daily existence of any and all human beings. Therefore this charitable, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization aims to promote the empowerment of individuals and groups, the cooperative exchange of resources, the development of new technologies, the need for forums that provide comfortable atmospheres for dialogue and other forms of social expression concerning economic, political and environmental malady, and the necessity of cultural diversity and inclusion as important factors in the fostering of global prosperity and social change.

By serving as an access point for grants, loans and other sources of funding such as scholarships and fellowships to individuals, small businesses, non-profit organizations, and other special programs, The Foundation of L.I.F.E., whenever possible, will serve to buttress grass roots organizations and movement operations that rely heavily on volunteer efforts; to support research that aids in the production of knowledge and new scholars that are representative of the aim of The Foundation; to foster the development of study tools – from books and other publications to multimedia and on-line programming that will help in the process of educating others in a manner consistent with The Foundation’s Mission; to support and foster the creation of artwork for public spaces that will constantly remind the public of issues associated with The Foundation’s Mission with the hopes of motivating them to engage in discourse that will help to bring about economic and political change in their areas of the world; and to promote and support the establishment of new community programming that encourages the development of leadership and involvement within the generation of humanity that will be most effected by the global prosperity and social change sought after by this Foundation.

ECONOMIC COLLABORATION

Black Rock United Contributory Exchange LLC, is the third organization that Dr. Hewlett established.

Why do those of us who live in the United States convince ourselves that we do not have everything we need in life? We are constantly in a state of trying to secure a job that provides a salary that will sustain our lives while we struggle through an existence based on a capitalist model that tells us that we alone must accumulate and possess the resources necessary to achieve superiority over the next person, who is constructed as our enemy and competition.

Somehow, after World War I the American Dream went from being about togetherness and collaboration to fragmentation and separation. It is no wonder that community has diminished so much in the U.S. that neighbors don’t know each other by name and some find it easy to assassinate a handful of people who live within a mile radius of them.

Community and Collaboration are the two concepts that serve as the basis for the B.R.U.C.E. LLC.

B.R.U.C.E. is a cooperative business enterprise that consists of groups and individual entrepreneurs all of which are also residents of Black Rock City exclave communities, who own businesses or simply have some product, good, service, or labor that they wish to contribute to sustainable community projects. Through B.R.U.C.E., the resources of these contributing members or contractor owners are combined in collaborative efforts that take the form of contracted projects of all types across the globe that help to foster love for self, love for others and love for the planet. In other words, B.R.U.C.E. is a general contractor that facilitates global contracts using its member entrepreneurs as sub-contractors to complete projects that help promote kinder relations, community development and global wellness and sustainability.

Is not just a Small Business Network. It is a set of entrepreneurs who have joined forces to actively:

• Create sustainable business communities that rely solely on the goods, products, and services produced by the contract owners…
• Insure projects associated with the sustainable communities of the contract owners are completed with sufficient resources…
• Help each contract owner business to develop the resources and gain the experience necessary to insure success…
• Serve the interests of the communities in which the contract owners live and work…
• and much much more.

We are currently in the process of constructing an online infrastructure that will allow these collaborators to do the work they need and to determine differences in their personal economic outcomes as a participant in relation to entrepreneurs who do not participate in such a collaborative.

EMPOWERMENT AND OWNERSHIP

 

Finally, Brian Hewlett LLC was established as an umbrella organization to handle the business affairs of myself and others who are involved in these and other associated entrepreneurial ventures. An LLC was chosen because it is a blend of some of the best characteristics of corporations, partnerships and sole proprietorship, which allows these entrepreneurial endeavors the benefits of all three.

There are four main benefits to forming an LLC:

1. Personal protection from business debts and claims (limited liability)
2. Flow-through tax advantages of a partnership—that is, profits or losses that flow through directly to the members
3. Simplicity of operation without the statutory necessity to keep minutes, hold meetings or create resolutions as with a corporation
4. Flexible distribution of profits and losses

Obviously, some of these benefits are available under other business forms, but no other form offers all of them except the LLC.
